UQ Centre of Advanced Imaging

St Lucia Campus, Queensland

John Wardle Architects and Wilson Architects were commissioned by The University of Queensland to carry out a feasibility study and cost estimate for the Centre for Advanced Imaging (CAI) project.

  • The development of the new Centre for Advanced Imaging (CAI) proposes to capture highly experimental molecular imaging technology and the necessary support resources in a single facility.  The CAI is appropriately sited on the University of Queensland St Lucia Campus within the Gehrmann and Ritchie Building precinct with nearby access to the adjacent Queensland Brain Institute (QBI) Building.

The proposed CAI facility adjoins the Centre for Magnetic Resonance (CMR) with a link proposed to physically amalgamate the CMR with the CAI to form an epicentre of research, development, discovery and education through the provision of world class molecular imaging technology and instrumentation.

It is proposed the new CAI facility accommodates the complimentary use of MRI and PET imaging technologies in association with a Cyclotron and supporting radio chemistry laboratories for research and commercial partnering.
