Caboolture Town Square
Caboolture, Queensland
Wilson Landscape Architects and Wilson Architects were commissioned for the rejuvenation of the Caboolture Town Square project for the Moreton Bay Regional Council.
The project included the construction of a town square, playground and park spaces to compliment the new Hub building and form a much needed public open space for Caboolture.
The project involved the construction of suspended slabs over an existing carpark podium to form the major paved concourse and square abutting the new award winning hub building entry.
A substantial roof reflecting the existing colonnade floats 8 mtrs above the square, providing covered performance and recreation space and defines the town square form and use.
The square has connected divergent existing pavement materials and provided a space suitable for public use.
The connection to the street and existing park has been realized with the substantial reworking of the park and rationalization of existing plantings.
A state of the art playground incorporates electronically active equipment to tempt younger children while a new cafeteria capitalizes on the open space.
